The Downtown Lincoln Association is excited to announce the beginning of a new gift card program exclusively for the downtown area that will launch in a few weeks. The much anticipated Downtown Lincoln Gift Card program will provide great opportunities and benefits for both downtown businesses and shoppers alike and will help strengthen the already vibrant downtown community. 

The program will be administered by StoreFinancial, an Overland Park-based payment processor who manages gift card programs for shopping centers around the world.

The implementation of the gift card program will greatly benefit the downtown businesses as it ensures that 100% of all gift card sales will be spent in downtown Lincoln, increasing revenues for all retailers in the downtown area and supporting our local economy.

The lustrous and brightly colored gift cards are pre-paid, private label cards that ensure that card use is restricted to the downtown Lincoln area. The cards will be processed as a credit or bankcard on a store’s register, so no additional software or equipment will be needed. The only requirements for participation are that a merchant accepts credit transactions utilizing the MasterCard® payments network and that they authorize all transaction requests.

The avant-garde program will also eliminate the need for downtown businesses to give cash back from a gift certificate as all funds are stored on the card and are deducted with each purchase. Once a purchase is made with the card, shoppers will receive balance information printed on their receipt. A toll-free 800-number will be available on the back of the card for balance inquiries as well.

This is an exciting time for downtown Lincoln merchants as the cards will provide a great opportunity to drive business downtown and serve as valuable incentives for those who live in Lincoln and those visiting the city to explore the downtown area and experience all it is has to offer.

Downtown Gift Cards can be purchased in increments of $5-$500 and will be available online at downtowngift.org, or at DLA’s office at 206 S. 13th Street, Suite 101 in the Sharp building.  Recipients of the gift card will have the luxury of spending their funds at a variety of restaurants, boutiques, movie theatres, parking garages, bars, hair salons and hundreds of other establishments downtown!
