One of the most successful musicals of all time, Dan Goggin’s Nunsense, will celebrate its silver birthday this summer with a 25th anniversary production presented by The TADA Theatre in Lincoln Nebraska’s Haymarket district, beginning a four week run on June 3rd.

This production will coincide with the anniversary production opening in June at the Cherry Lane Theatre in Manhattan where the show debuted Off-Broadway in 1985.

“Over the years, this has been one of our most requested productions and we are proud to bring this habit-forming musical to the stage in June to celebrate 25 years of bringing laughter to theatre patrons,” says the show’s director, Robert D. Rook. Rook was one of the first directors in the United States to direct Nunsense and has since directed many of Goggin’s shows over the years. “Dan really started something when he wrote this show, the series is now a musical theatre dynasty. This particular production will recapture what started it all and has some new surprises as well,” says Rook.

Nunsense centers around the Little Sisters Of Hoboken, an order of nuns, who are desperately in need of funds for a worthy cause. They take over the school auditorium (complete with the set of Grease, or as Mother Superior calls it, Vaseline) to raise money by showcasing their hysterically hidden talents. Featuring fun musical numbers, tap dancing, an audience quiz and comic surprises, this is one talent show that is truly heaven sent! Winner of four Outer Critics Circle Awards including Best Off-Broadway Musical, Nunsense has become a must-see international phenomenon!

The stellar cast is lead by musical theatre veteran Judy Anderson in the role of Mother Superior. Angelia Onuoha portrays Sister Hubert, Cris Rook is Sister Amnesia, Beth King is Sister Robert Anne, Madeline Hafner is Sister Mary Leo, Jaci Manning is Sister May Mei’ and Curtis Moeller is Father Curt. Nunsense is directed by Robert D. Rook with musical direction and choreography by Cris Rook, accompaniment by Curtis Moeller, scenic design by Chuck Danskin, costumes by Judy Sheehan, lighting design by Troy Lewellen, and stage management by Jaci Manning.

Since its debut as a cabaret show in Greenwich Village and its transfer Off-Broadway to the Cherry Lane Theatre in 1985, the musical Nunsense has been presented the world over with 8,000 productions (and counting), and has grossed more than $500 million. Subsequent productions of Nunsense include Nunsense 2, Nunsense Jamboree, Nunsense A-Men!, Nuncrackers, Meshuggah-Nuns, Nunsensations, and most recently, Nunset Boulevard and Sister Robert Anne’s Cabaret Class.

Nunsense production dates are June 3-6/10-13/17-20/24-27 with performance times Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm and Sunday at 2:00 pm. Tickets are $18.00 (Thursday-Saturday) and $15.00 for Sunday matinees. The award-winning TADA Theatre is located in the Creamery Building at 7th & P Streets in the historic Haymarket district of Lincoln, Nebraska.
