Q & A With Brix & Stone

Visit Brix & Stone on Facebook

DLA sat down with Marci Davison, owner of Brix & Stone Gastropub, to find out more about the casual-American bar and grill that resides in the Haymarket. The restaurant offers a variety meats/chicken entrees, pasta, fish, pizza, soups, salads and sandwiches. To see their full menu, including one that’s gluten-free, click here.

• When did Brix & Stone move into its new downtown location and where is your restaurant located?

Marci: Brix and Stone Gastropub opened on September 23rd, 2010. We are located on 8th and Q in the Historic Haymarket, Lincoln NE.

• What do you enjoy most about being located downtown so far?

Marci: We love being Downtown! So much activity goes on in the Haymarket from Haymarket Hay Days to the Farmers’ Market and of course the Husker fans!

• What exactly is a gastropub?

Marci: A Gastropub by definition is…“A public house that serves high quality food and drink.” It is similar to a bistro, however, we specialize in beer instead of wine. Don’t get me wrong, we do however have a nice selection of vino for the wine lovers.

• For those who have never been to Brix & Stone, describe the type of food you offer and the positioning of the restaurant in general.

Marci: We offer all types of food. We specialize in quality American cuisine. We offer steaks, pastas, fresh seafood, sandwiches and burgers. We also have European favorites such as Bangars & Mash. Our appetizers include a list of bleu cheese chips, wings, house made beer battered onion rings, lettuce wraps and much more!

• What are some of the must-get food items on the menu?

Marci: Chicken N’ Waffles definitely! However, my all time favorite is the Lemon Chicken with our house-made Spinach and Sun Dried Tomato Orzo! It’s yummy!

• Any discount nights you have there?

Marci: Happy Hour from 5 to 6 Friday and Saturday Nights with food and drink specials! Brix & Stone is also on the Downtown Pogo Card.

• What do you love most about the people you work with and how they interact with the customers?

Marci: Our crew is great! Fun and energetic! They all love the gastropub, and it definitely shows with the service they present to our guests.

• Anything else you’d like to add about Brix & Stone?

Marci: Don’t forget Brix and Stone Gastropub on home football games! We offer drink and food specials, plus no cover charge. You can’t beat that! We are one of the closest restaurant/bars to Memorial Stadium and are within walking distance!
