We sat down with Cherry on Top Store Manager Dani Bretz to learn a little more about the frozen yogurt shop that moved into the Haymarket a few months ago. Cherry on Top is located in the Salvation Army Building, which was awarded the Downtown Impact Award for Significant Development in 2011 just last week. The frozen yogurt shop is one of seven new tenants that Speedway Properties has brought in to the building since last year. Serving a variety of flavors and toppings with health-conscious consumers in mind, Cherry on Top’s unique blend of top-notch quality and customer service has quickly made it one of the most promising new establishments in the Haymarket.

• When exactly did Cherry on Top move into its new downtown location, and where is your shop located?

Dani: Cherry on Top arrived in the Haymarket on August 6th and we are located at 8th and P along with the Scooters Coffehouse.

• For those who have never been to Cherry on Top, describe the types of food items you have to offer.

Dani: We offer non fat frozen yogurt in 12 flavors (depending on location) and we have 40 toppings to choose from. We have some flavors that are more yogurt tasting (tarts) and some that taste just like soft serve ice cream. Our toppings include fresh fruits and nuts and almost any candy or chocolate item you can imagine!

• Where are the other Lincoln locations?

Dani: Cherry on Top can also be enjoyed near Southpointe Mall at 28th and Pine Lake road, in Westfield Mall and at 2700 Dan Ave which is near Superior and N 27th streets.

• When and where did the franchise start, and what would you say has made it so successful?

Dani: Cherry on Top began in California in 2007 and I believe our success is due to a fantastic tasting and healthful product along with customers ability to make their own creation!

• What are you enjoying most about being located downtown so far?

Dani: We love the atmosphere in the Haymarket and the people we get to see everyday!

• What are some of the most popular must-get items on the menu?

Dani: Our most requested flavor is Cake Batter and the ‘top’ topping is Cookie Dough Bites.  Having said that, most people have many favorites and there is a lot to choose from.

• What is the flavor/topping combination you get the most?

Dani: Personally, I am partial to any of our tarts along with fresh raspberries, blackberries and strawberries and strawberry yogurt bites.

• Any popular themed/discount nights you have there during the year?

Dani: We have a loyalty card, good all year long. Customers that purchase a 10oz yogurt get a stamp and after 7 stamps they get 10oz free. We also have specials that show up on our Facebook page and you can find us there by searching for Cherry on Top-Lincoln.

• What do you love most about the employees that work there and how they interact with the customers?

Dani: The Cherry on Top team loves the fun and lively environment they work in and they are excellent at advising customers on great flavor combinations and making their day better with a cheery greeting and a smile!

• Anything else you want to let people know about Cherry On Top?

Dani: We offer 15% off of your entire purchase if you dine downtown and bring your dining receipt from the same day.  Our hours are 11am to 10pm Sunday through Thursday and 11am to 11pm on Friday and Saturday.
