The Downtown Lincoln Association is excited to announce that Shop the Blocks is expanding off the success of its semi-annual events to add a new year-round shopping experience. Shop the Blocks Third Thursdays will begin Thursday, July 19th from 5:00-8:00 p.m. All shoppers are invited to check-out this free, monthly event.

For Shop the Blocks Third Thursdays, 12 downtown boutiques will stay open late until 8:00 p.m., offer special discounts and markdowns on sale items, and some will serve light bites and refreshments. A list of participating boutiques and the sales they will offer is available at ShopTheBlocks.com.

The first Shop the Blocks semi-annual events were held in November 2011 and April 2012. These two events brought more than 1,000 shoppers downtown and over $100,000 in retail sales to the participating businesses. Due to Shop the Blocks’ overwhelming success, downtown’s retailers are collaborating with the Downtown Lincoln Association to create several additional Shop the Blocks experiences for the Lincoln community. A variety of sidewalk sales, student days, fashion shows, and other opportunities are in the works for the coming months.

As the heart of downtown’s retail district continues to grow and thrive, we invite you to take part by supporting our local businesses and visiting downtown Lincoln to Shop the Blocks year-round. Please save the date for the next semi-annual holiday event on Thursday, November 15th from 5-9 p.m.
